In the world of outdoor enthusiasts, the perfect camping experience often hinges on the quality and functionality of camper vans and caravan awnings. Recently, I embarked on an exciting photographic journey with Vango, a leading name in outdoor gear, to capture the essence of their awnings through commercial photography. This project unfolded over multiple days on location in the picturesque landscapes of Yorkshire, featuring lifestyle models and a client-centric approach that set the stage for an adventure of its own.
The collaboration with Vango began with a shared commitment to showcase their camper van and caravan awnings. As a photographer, my mission was to capture products and weave a visual narrative that would resonate with the spirit of adventure and outdoor living. Vango’s team and I aligned on a vision emphasising lifestyle, functionality, and the beauty of the Yorkshire backdrop.
On-Site Photography in Yorkshire:
The choice of Yorkshire as the backdrop for the photoshoot was intentional – to showcase Vango’s awnings in outdoor scenarios. Over multiple days, the team and I captured the awnings in various settings, highlighting their adaptability and functionality in real-life camping scenarios.
Lifestyle Models for Authenticity:
Lifestyle models were incorporated into the shoot. These models, embodying the adventurous spirit of Vango’s target audience, interacted with the awnings in ways that resonated with the outdoor lifestyle. The models became integral to conveying the authentic experience Vango’s awnings offer.
Client-Centric Workstation Setup:
One of the unique aspects of this project was the client-centric workstation set up on-site. A mobile workstation allowed Vango’s team to review photographs in real-time as they were taken. This process ensured that the client was actively involved in the creative decisions, providing feedback and approval before moving on to each section of the shoot. This approach fostered collaboration and a sense of ownership in the final visuals.
The post-production phase involved fine-tuning the images to meet Vango’s high standards. This phase was crucial for colour correction, detail enhancement, and maintaining a balance between natural aesthetics and product visibility. The goal was to present the awnings not just as products but as essential components of a rich outdoor narrative.
As the final images found their place on Vango’s website, marketing materials, and social media channels, they became an invitation for outdoor enthusiasts to embark on their adventures. The photographs captured not just camper van and caravan awnings but the promise of a lifestyle that embraces the beauty of nature and the freedom of the open road.
